HOW TO INSTALL GRAPHIC CARD IN DELL INSPIRON 530 UPGRADE
Is it possible to achieve a moderate increase in performance by just switching the card or would I need to upgrade the PSU as well? If the latter, are there any other PSUs that will fit? The current one is roughly 7" x 4" x 2.5".Ĭan anyone offer any advice on the situation? If needs be I would be happy to put the whole computer in a regular midi case but I don't know whether this would work. From what I have read the limiting factor in this setup is the graphics card, which is in turn limited by the PSU, which is in turn limited by the slim custom case. I used to know a lot about building PCs but have been away from the scene for a good few years and don't know about current technology. The planned use of the computer is gaming but not necessarily high end games so hopefully it will be possible to upgrade without junking and starting again. How many amps are listed for +12V PCIE cards need 28A/+12V minimum, and we recommend 40A. Check the label on the side of your 350W PSU. It is my 11 year old brother's computer that he would like to use for gaming but he is somewhat limited by the small PSU and the current graphics card (ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT (low profile). The Dell Inspiron 530 has a PCIEx16 slot, so you'll need a 550W PSU before installing a new graphics card. I am facing a similar issue except with the 'slimline' Inspiron 530s.

Re: Video Card Upgrade - Dell Inspiron 530 I'm at the stage of knowing enough to be dangerous.but also knowing to ask questions before hand. I think I'm a step up from 'one of those people who know enough about PCs to be dangerous'. I'm not sure if any other info is needed.so let me know. I don't really do anything else that would draw a whole lot of power.but I want to make sure before I buy and install that I'm not going to burn the system out from not having enough power. I was looking at this card, a Sapphire HD 4670, 512mb: What I need to know.is there a card that will give me good graphics at a relatively affordable price that I won't have to upgrade my PSU over? I don't consider myself a 'gamer' (I only play World of Warcraft and The Sims 2 ), so I don't think I need to go crazy. How the PSU fits, etc.I'm planning to upgrade the video card on my Dell Inspiron 530. Details shows before / after - how well the 8800GT fits inside the case. So, when you get the new 530 in, let us know how everything works and if possible take some digital photos and upload them. he had to FORCE the PSU into the case and bend some metal.

Last year, a guy was helpful for giving us info on the 52x cases and allowed us to help others with the same problems. Here's a quick video on how to increase the memory available to use by Intel HD Graphics. Some suggestions I have would be:1 GB of System memory 256 MB2 GB. The concern is if DELL still uses custom non-standard SLOT-clips for the PSU. I installed a thermaltake 430 into an Compaw a few years ago, it was a tight fit. I have gone as far as to do a clean install of Windows only to get the same issue again.

So a good 400~450watt should keep the size down. I can not go to Windows Update to download a newer driver. Sometimes the bigger the PSU 500+ watt units tend to be a bit longer. The HD-Bays could be a problem - if both are filled due to the size of the 8800 card.Ī standard size ATX (not long) PSU should work. Dell used to show the insides, but not anymore. The newer 530 - I see only 1 photo on the net of its inside. The previous 52x series where a bit tighter with the stupid BTX design. Well - like I said - this is a rather new ATX design they are using. will i be able to use my new GeForce 8800 GT 512mb graphics card? Oh yea btw my computer does have PCI-Express enabled in it.

and that the 250 isnt watts its 250 something else. the dell representative said i should be fine installing it. i said that on the geforce box it sais i need 400 watt minimum req. To be honest i couldnt understand them very well. Go here Under Interface, check PCI-E Click Apply Change 'Sort by:' to Lowest Price There are several pages. they told me my power supply was like 250 watts or 300 watts or something. Other Inspiron 530 users will chime in soon. I called Dell technical support and asked them if the new video card i purchased would work in my new system.
